About eLearning Creations, Inc.
eLearning Creations was founded in May 2002, to license an on-line education technology created by the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning.
Principals
Susan Catts, President
Susan Catts has a broad range of experience, including consulting with entrepreneurial firms on strategic business development, leading community-wide economic development initiatives, and non-profit management.
As president of eLearning Creations, Inc., she oversees development of research based educational content for special education professionals, negotiates license agreements, and evaluates new product and market opportunities.
Ron Aust
Ronald J. Aust holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington with a concentration in Educational Technology. He is on the University of Kansas (KU) faculty in the department Teaching and Leadership where he advises graduate students and teaches courses in integrating technology in education and instructional design.
Dr. Aust led the development of the UNITE distributed learning system which established the Explorer collection in 1993 as one of the first educational repositories on the World Wide Web. Recently he directed the development of other educational application including those for the Learning Generation . He currently directs the development of a suite of software tools used in creating and organizing instructional content for e-Learning solutions at the e-Learning Design Lab . His research focuses the on learning strategies that influence the design of educational technology and collaborative professional development.
Don Deshler
Don Deshler is a professor in the School of Education and director of the Center for Research on Learning (CRL) at the University of Kansas.
Dr. Deshler is the recipient of the J.E. Wallace Wallin Award from the Council for Exceptional Children and the Learning Disabilities Association Award from the Learning Disabilities Association of America for outstanding research and service for at-risk populations.
Ed Meyen
Ed Meyen is co-director of the e-Learning Design Lab and Budig Teaching Professor of Special Education at the University of Kansas. The e-Learning Design Lab brings together the talents of faculty from engineering and education into a collaborative effort to develop new instructional designs, learning environments and online instructional programs. Since 1996, Meyen has taught all of his courses online. One of his online courses, “Curriculum Development,” was recognized by the Paul Allen Virtual Education Foundation competition in 1998 as one of the five best online courses internationally. Meyen was principal investigator for the Online Academy that developed online courses in teacher education that have been implemented at over 180 universities nationally. He has published in the area of evaluating, designing, and teaching online instruction. Currently, he and his colleagues are conducting research and development activities in a number of initiatives related to online instruction that are funded by federal agencies. The lab has been awarded over fifteen grants in the area of online instruction since its inception 1997.
David Richter
Mr. Richter is an accomplished business professional with over twenty five years of progressive management, business development, sales, and consulting experience.
He is an active and well-respected member of the Kansas City business community, including active participation with KCCatalyst and ITKC. He served as Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Silicon Prairie Technology Association, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Kansas City Museum/Science City at Union Station.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for eLearning Creations, Inc. and sits on the Advisory Board of Creative Courseware, Inc.
